A Space That Embraces Light

ModuleX® was selected for KAGUWA’s directly operated flagship store in Kagurazaka, Tokyo.

Just as tea leaves release a rich aroma over time, the venue was designed to create an experience in which the space itself resonates with the interplay of light and materials, quietly coming to life.
With negative space at the heart of the design, symbolic forms and excessive ornamentation were deliberately eliminated, creating an environment where the materials and light seem to whisper and visitors can focus visually on the tea itself.
In line with the theme of how light should respond to this negative space, we developed a lighting plan using a minimum of light while carefully considering the balance between materials and their arrangement.

We skillfully combine our original Lighting Modulation in Viewing Angle Range® lighting design method with our Filter Lighting Design™ and Spectrum Design™ technologies to bring the comfort of natural light into this tenant space, where it would otherwise not reach.
By precisely controlling the quality of light, we created a natural lighting environment that gives the impression of pleasant daylight gently filtering into the store.
In addition, as the sun begins to set, ModuleX® Controls, our environmental control technology, gradually transforms the entire space to quietly harmonize with the changing natural environment outside, creating a setting where visitors can experience fragrances mingling with the leisurely pace of time.

This meticulously calibrated lighting environment envelops visitors in a sense of tranquility, as though immersed in natural light, the moment they step inside the store.
The very nature of the space becomes a form of hospitality, creating a uniquely luxurious experience that puts visitors both physically and mentally at ease.
