A Flexible Approach to Lighting for a New Era

ModuleX® was selected for use at Hills House, on the 33rd and 34th floors of the Azabudai Hills Mori JP Tower—the centerpiece of the expansive Azabudai Hills complex. From its windows, guests can enjoy breathtaking views of the Tokyo Bay area and the iconic Tokyo Tower standing nearby.

Hills House facilities are available for use by companies and employees in the Azabudai Hills office buildings, the entirety of which are designed to serve as workplaces. Hills House consists of three areas: the grand bistro Dining 33, supervised by Kiyomi Mikuni; the Members Lounge, for members only; and the Sky Room, a spacious dining area suitable for a variety of occasions. While primarily a workplace, Hills House also serves a new role as a hub for interaction, learning, and occasionally relaxation for the ideal workstyle.

Since the facilities are blessed with an abundance of natural light during the day, we applied our original Lighting Naturalization® lighting design method to ensure a proper balance between natural and artificial light, providing those who spend time here with the optimal lighting environment.

In consideration of the facilities’ diverse range of users and potential methods of use, we applied our original Lighting Modulation in Viewing Angle Range® and Time Sequence Design® lighting design methods, which allow for appropriate lighting adjustments in line with the area, purpose of use, and time of day. In addition, the lighting system is managed using our original ModuleX® Controls lighting environment control technology, to provide even more comfort.

For the lighting fixtures, we used exclusively glare-controlled downlights developed using our unique optical control technology. This eliminates reflections of the lighting fixtures on the window panes even at night, allowing for a view as clear as during the day.
