ModuleX® was selected for a new branch of Hachimaru, a Japanese-style bar restaurant franchise mainly operating in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
With the owner's desire to “have people enjoy sushi more casually without hesitation,” this restaurant offers high-quality sushi, drinks, background music, and space at reasonable prices.
First, we studied the ideal way of lighting in authentic sushi restaurants in Japan. T To deliver even brightness up to all the corners on the counter table made of a single board of plain wood, which is the main feature of the space, we prepared a lighting plan of a high uniformity ratio of illuminance by introducing our proprietary lighting design technique, Filter Lighting Design®.
Our proprietary Gradation Lighting technique was also used to highlight the beauty of the ceiling materials with different expressions acquired through traditional Japanese techniques, such as board pasting, bamboo weaving, wickerwork, and board and batten. We conducted verification to find out the best dimensions for each fixtures so that we will be able to express the beauty of the shadows made by the various finishing.
To produce an atmosphere that emphasizes the space created by various finishing materials, detailed expressions of food, movements of the sushi chefs, and a dining experience that can be had without hesitation, our proprietary lighting environment control technology, ModuleX® Controls, was used to delicately control the balance of brightness and illumination while taking into consideration the customers’ circulation, seating position, and comfortable eye-level.
