ModuleX® was used in the renovation of International Gallery BEAMS
Women's on Meiji Street in Harajuku.
While keeping the interior design as it was, the client wanted to use
lighting effects to transform the space and requested that it be
achieved through the use of only a light ceiling. We carried out a
lighting plan that balanced the brightness and illumination of the space.
For the light ceiling, through careful planning that included boxes of
various sizes from large to small, lighting fixtures and installation
intervals, consideration of the distance from the lighting fixtures to the
illuminated surfaces, and selection of the materials of those surfaces,
as well as creating uniform emission of light, we ensured adequate
brightness and illumination to display products and the space itself.
Using our original Lighting Modulation in Viewing Angle Range® lighting
design method, we examined how much lighting energy was needed where in the space.
Furthermore, using our lighting environment control technology,
ModuleX® Controls, and designing for and controlling the psychological
impact on users via their vision, we transformed the area into a new
space that balances the brightness and illumination of the ceiling
surface only through adjustment of the lighting effects of the light ceiling.
